Tim Holtz - Creative Chemistry 101 class - Day 5 - Sprays & Stains

Created: June 5, 2016
Modified:

I have a ton of sprays "Adirondacks" from the olden days, as well as all the Dylusions sprays, but don't use them much. Normally I end up with my fingers just stained like hell... plus I get it all over my work surface so I have a tendency to avoid them - I'm a bit messy... These samples are from Day 5.

Love the faux marbling technique, then I got to thinking and tried the stains on glossy cardstock... love the look. so will use that again.

Have to get around to doing something with the sprays...

All the fish and seaweed images are from Designs By Ryn "Sea Creatures 1 & 2" sets

On this tag I worked on 90# watercolor paper. Applied "Picket Fence" stain in a big glob on my craft sheet, then some smaller globs around it ("Broken China", "Peacock Feathers", :Shabby Shutters", and "Wilted Violet"), then ran my tag through the stains. Love the marbled look. Dried, splattered with water and re-dried.

Stamped the seaweed using Versafine Black Onyx. Stamped the school of fish with Archival "Rose Madder" and a touch of "Saffron".

The octopus and small seahorse I had eCut. The seahorse I stamped with Versamark and embossed with Queen's Gold embossing powder, colored with a swipe of Shabby Shutters stain. The octopus inked with various Distress pads, stamped and moved the color around with a wet paintbrush.

Stamped the quote (MSE "By The Sea" set) using the Picket Fence stain and dried, but didn't like the results, so wiped it away leaving a ghost image... Reinked my stamp with Picket Fence pad, stamped and embossed with white embossing powder.

Final touch added the light blue Sari ribbon.

Applied the same stains as above onto the glossy cardstock, spritzed with water and dried. PS See bottom of page for a view of the tag before I added the elements.

Stamped the bottom seaweed using Versafine "Olympia Green".

Stamped the "By the Sea" (MSE "By The Sea" set) using Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed.

eCut the upper seaweed and sprayed with some of the sprays from yesterday's tag. Inked a 2nd seaweed with "Forest Moss" pad. Adhered both together slightly off set then onto the tag.

Die cut the word "Dream" an A Way With Words die from Elizabeth Craft Designs (also available on Quietfire Design HERE) from white cardstock and swiped a few colors of stains over it. Dried and inked with Versamark and clear embossed twice.

eCut the turtle, stamped with distress pads, added some color with a paintbrush, inked the stamp again but only on the shell area with Versamark, stamped and clear embossed. Hit the shell with a direct to paper stamp pad method and "Brushed Corduroy". Adhered to tag.

Final touch tied some Sari ribbon.
