Donna used Fabriano watercolor paper. I was a little stumped as to what I wanted to do in her journal. There are a lot of wonderful directions I could go in, but which one to choose. I ended up making an oversized paper casting using cream toned LBS end sheet paper scraps (she'll identify with this paper), and a rubbing plate from Cedar Canyon (available from Quietfire Design). I sprinkled some seeds onto my plate along with some dried crumbled xmas cactus flower petals. I made my slurry and cast it as a sheet and when most of the water was pressed out, lay it on my rubbing plate and pressed it firmly into all the crevices, sponging as much moisture as I could out of it. I noticed some of my seeds weren't staying put when I took it out of the m old, and rather than gluing them back in, I wet a piece of very fine lace paper into the mold and then lay my casting back in, pressing to merge both sheets. It worked. As I mentioned my flowers were oversized, so when I glued them to the pages, I only cut off the bottom section, leaving the top section sticking out of the page. It can be cut away as well if she doesn't want things sticking out.

I went searching in my database of quotes and came upon this one I thought was nice. I wrote the quote using Ecoline inks (5 colors; Deep Yellow, Scarlet, Sky Blue Cyan, Light Green & Light Yellow) and a Mitchel #4 nib. The larger letters were done with two sizes of Haff Ruling pens, waited for the first color to dry before going back in with the smaller haff pen.

ran out of room on the first sign in page so I started another one in the back. I have this wonderful Rollagraph Jumbo stamp of seed packets. I stamped them with Versafine Onxy Black and colored in two of them. The other two, I cut out the center portion and put my particulars in there.
