Our challenge for our October 11th meeting is to try the next structure in the book - Piano Hinge #28 from Hedi Kyle's "Art Of The Fold" book.
This is another fun structure. I made a bunch of these in 2008/09, some with multiple signatures, various shapes, and Xmas ornaments etc; you can see them here (Piano Hinge 1) (Piano Hinge 2) (Piano Hinge 3) (Piano Hinge 4) (Piano Hinge 5) (Piano Hinge - Knit One Purl One), using everything from Mizuhiki cord, Metallic Embroidery Floss, jute, knitting needles and Bamboo skewers
I painted a heavy weight cardstock with Ecoline inks sprinkled with Neuberg Ebel silver and copper metallic powders. Cut them to page size and painted the backs with Distress Oxide sprays. This cardstock was waaay too thick for this binding technique so cut the pages and created a separate spine using Canson Ingres black paper..
I cut down bamboo skewers and created paper beads from triangular shaped paste paper, then glued them to the skewers. Keeps the skewers from falling out.
