WC for Cards - Day 4 - Roses - HB card
Created: May 8, 2014 This is the 4th day of the online watercolor for cards class I'm using a couple of the newest stamps from Quietfire Design. that I got in the mail the day before yesterday Stamping with Gelatos with Shari Carroll. She used a relatively solid image stamp but I was in the mood for a more background kind of look. This one was a first generation stamping, but I made some 2nd and 3rd generations which I'll use eventually... |
I applied the gelatos onto my background stamp (Impression Obsession CAC "Circle Swirls"), misted with water and pressed my Arches 90# HP watercolor paper onto the stamp, pressing with my fingers to get good coverage. I Let it sit there for about a 1/2 minute. Dried the stamp and then just flicked a small Versamark pad randomly over it, pressed it to my dried background and clear embossed. Repeated the Versamark, pressed to background and embossed with Pearlescent embossing powder. This gave an interesting texture of matte, with glossy with pearl look to the background. I die cut the edge with Spellbinders "A2 Curved Borders One". Layered this on to my blue card. |
I was going through my ribbons and realized the reddish area at the lower right of the background looked like my roses ribbon... So adhered them to the left side. I stamped the sentiment using Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed. Then stamped it again on some tracing paper and cut around it to create a mask. I colored the roses stamp with Distress markers, stamped over my masked Birthday, then used a watercolor brush and gently moved the color around. Free hand cut around everything and edged it with a Distress pad in "Picked Raspberry", then in "Mustard Seed". Adhered to card with 3D foam tape.
