First day of an online watercolors for card class. I love using watercolors, and am pretty adept with them, but find I usually don't reach for them as my #1 choice of art supplies... So I thought I'd take the class to maybe start getting in the habit. BIG GRIN.

I'm also using a  quote and butterfly flourish stamp on the insides and one of the tiny compilations stamps on the outside from  Quietfire Design

Vibrant Watercolor technique with guest teacher Laura Bassen

The first technique that I did (actually the 2nd, the first hasn't turned out right yet...) is done with an acrylic block on watercolor paper and Distress pads.

Front of card:
Ink the edge of the pad with a color, mist with water and press down on the paper. Clean block. Ink with next color along the edge only, mist with water and stamp into part of the previous color, mushing around a bit, lifting and semi drying. Continue in this way till you've filled your paper.

I first wet my Canson 90# WC paper, prior stamping with the block. Tilt and or lift off some of the wetness if needed. I also stamped the same colors a 2nd time to get more intensity and play happening.

Inside of Card:
I altered the technique a bit this time. I used a large acrylic block, taped down my Arches 90# HP WC paper to an acrylic plate, brushed water over the whole area, then inked up my block using the edge of the stamp pad. I put all the colors I was using at the same time, misted with water, and pressed down, holding it there for a minute, then lifted the block. Repeated the technique with the same colors for more intensity. Dried, then sprinkled some water, let it activate and dried.

Stamped the alphabet border using Versafine Black Onyx repeatedly along the left and upper sides. Drew some thin black lines along the other two sides.

Side folded my dark green card. Adhered the wc bkgr'd. eCut the word Dreams (Quietfire Design - Silhouette online store) from white cardstock, eCut a shadow layer from an orangey cardstock, Adhered the two layers together then onto the card.

On the inside stamped the quote and butterfly flourish with the black and clear embossed. Added some glitter "Star Dust" on the butterfly using a Quickie Glue Pen.
