ID: WC for Cards - Day 11 - Embossed WC Butterfly - HB card
Size: 5"w x 7"h

This is the 11th day of the online watercolor for cards class.

This is an interesting technique, although mine didn't have as much definition as Yana had... or maybe it's just the way she photographed it.

I'm using a couple stamps from  Quietfire Design.

Embossed watercolor painting technique with Yana Smakula

Embossed the butterfly (Memory Box "Flynn") into Arches 90# HP watercolor paper using a Spellbinders tan mat. you don't want to cut the image, just get a nice depth of embossing.

Painted with artist quality watercolors and a wet brush. Dried it then wet each wing separately and used a fine tipped brush to outline the wing and details and allowed it to bleed. When dry, passed a Wink of Stella brush all over.

Cut a mask of the butterfly then stamped the "Butterfly Circle" using Distress pads in "Mustard Seed" all over and hit here and there with "Fired Brick" & "Picked Raspberry", then clear embossed.

Stamped the "Happy Birthday" with Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed.

Adhered edge to edge to a bright red side folded card, then added the red dots as a border using a Viva Pearl Pen in red.
