Rainbow Maker Day 3 - Bee Hive cards

Created: August 11, 2017
Modified:

I signed up for another of Jennifer Mcguire's onLine classes. Lots of Inspiration...

This is a prime example of using the positive and negative of dies... The card on the left uses the negative of the word die and the bee hive hexagons and a positive of the Happy Birthday (I used the negative on a different card...). The positive parts of these die cuts are on the card below.

I'm using an A Way With Words dies "Sweet" 2pce set, "Memories", "Happy Birthday" from Elizabeth Craft Designs, also available on Quietfire Design HERE, HERE, and HERE

And using a quote stamp from Quietfire Design,

("Garden Delights - The Hum Of Bees" 8pce set); ("Happy Birthday Plain and Simple" 7pce set)

Folded my bright yellow Bazzill monochromatic cardstock to create my easel card. Cut another piece the same size for the front.

The hexagon shapes are the backside of the cut file from the card below. I used Distress dabbers in "Mustard Seed" and "Spiced Marmalade" Arranged them in the same configuration as the cut file.

One of the techniques in day 3 was creating a background of various striped widths of rainbow colored cardstocks, adhering them to a thin piece of cardstock to create a new background. I raided my thin strip drawer and proceeded to stick them to a 65# white cardstock using Ken Oliver's "Stick It". I then cut out the "Sweet Memories" words using the negative for this card. Adhered it to the bee hive background at an angle. Added a piece of narrow yellow ribbon and tied a small bow.

Die cut the bees (Elizabeth Craft Designs) from a scrap of yellow cardstock, colored the body with a black Zig Writer. Assembled and adhered to front.

On the floor:

Stamped the bee hive background (Local King Rubber) using the lack and clear embossed.

Adhered 2 piece of a yellow gauze ribbon on the diagonal.

Die cut the "Happy Birthday" from the background I created with the narrow stripes.

Folded a narrow piece of the yellow cardstock to act as my footer.

Cut and folded my yellow Bazzill monochromatic cardstock.

Created a cut file to make my 3 layer bee hive background, cut from white cardstock. I slightly miscalculated... (senior moment), so the bottom layer I had to fussy cut...

The sweet Memories is the positive die cut from the above background.

Die cut the bees as above (Elizabeth Craft Designs)

Tied the large bow using a yellow gauze bee stamped ribbon.

On the inside: Stamped the Garden delights decorative oval shape using Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed. Stamped the quote suing the black and also clear embossed. Die cut using Elizabeth Craft Designs "Stitched Ovals" die set. Adhered to inside of card.

Used my Misti to stamp the sentiment words using the black and clear embossed.
