Blossoms HB
card
Created: February 27, 2011 This card has so many elements, I'm not even sure where to start. It uses one of Quietfire Design latest quote stamps released a couple days ago, as well as my favorite Happy Birthday stamp. Love the whimsy of it. |
The front of the card: White cardstock, layered with a textured border. This was a left over piece from a background I made some time ago, using strips of various textured papers and ribbons interspaced with a line of heat embossing. You can see the original card I made with it HERE. The green frame piece was punched out using a corner punch (EK Success "Wrought Iron") from white cardstock. You can see the tutorial on Becca's site HERE, although, out of all the corner punches I have, this was the only one that seemed to work with this technique. I then sprayed it with Adirondack spray mist "Meadow". This was adhered to the next layer. White cardstock, stamped with a Cherry Blossom Sprig (Flourishes set #97) using Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed, colored with watercolors. Background was lightly sponged with Distress peeled paint. Quote stamped with the black. The green piece was layered to this piece, then cut around leaving a thin white border, then layered to the textured border piece. |
I punched out 2 sizes of Sakura blossoms from some previously painted/decorated cardstock, shaped them with a stylus and adhered them to the card front over the existing painted blossoms. I added deep rose toned rhinestones. The Faerie (Ching-Chou Kuik's "My Buddy") was stamped with black on white cardstock, cut out, colored with Sakura Stardust gel pens and colors moved around with a water brush. Adhered to card only along bottom edge, so it stands slightly away from card. As a final touch I tied a small peg bow from some white lacy ribbon. |
Since I didn't want my whole Spellbinders Beaded Circle cut out, I used a rubber mallet to die cut the section I wanted from some watermelon toned textured cardstock. I then cut the strip that would hold my card piece. |
