ID: Ron - Gild Fish HB 09
Created: May 16, 2009 These Peel off fish are just so much fun to use and color. They are by Els van de Burgt (ecraftdesigns.com). This is another guy card, which I usually have difficulty with, because I tend to favor doing floral or butterfly/dragonfly type cards. But I thought the fish would work really well. I started out by applying the Peel Off fish onto the wrong side of Canson Biggie watercolor paper, (put a piece of double sided tape on the back) coloring it in with Peerless watercolors (love these, they are just a flat sheet of paper with a concentrated application of watercolors on them, one color per sheet). When dry I went over the fins with some iridescent medium to make them sparkle a bit. I left the circles on the fish white. I was debating whether to fill them in with color or glitter or faux rhinestones, but decided to leave them plain - they pop now. Cut the fish out and lay them aside while I did the vertical strip of gilding. |
I used Mona Lisa size mixed with a touch of yellow gouache on a dark violet/blue cardstock. Applied my Composition gold leaf, then stuck my fish in place, then dry embossed the designs on the gold leaf. Added some silver glitter inside the bubbles Wrote in the words with a Sakura "Gold" blue gel pen, then did a shadow outline with a quill nib and some white ink (my mixture). Mounted the blue to a beautiful bright green. The words say "I'm just swimmin' by to say and on the inside of the card it says "Happy Birthday" done in funky lettering
