Lynn Slevinsky - Concertina Bird Booklet - P2 (April 21, 2018)
Created April 22, 2018
Modified:

More pages in the booklet. We were asked to only do the front section of each envelope because of time constraints. So these are the last images for the front section. Of course I continued going with the back...

All pages are created on "Moh Via Felt Tex 80# Natural" paper. It has a light texture. All page artwork was trimmed down to 5.5" x 8.75"

ID: Heron - The Bishop Has a Skin

I watercolored the background and when dry, painted the bulrushes.

Found a silhouette image of a heron and electroically cut from black cardstock. Adhered to page and then adhered various grasses and ferns from my stash.

Lettering done with a Zig Writer in "Renee Mackintosh" lettering style.

Quote: The Bishop has a skin God knows, wrinkled like the foot of a goose, (all find safety in the tombs) nor can he hide in holy black, the heron's hunch upon his back, but a birch tree stood my Jack. William Buttler Yeats.

ID: Owl - Don't Underestimate Me

I love this owl image Stampendous "Look Into My Eyes") stamped with Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed, then accented with watercolors. Background sponged with Distress browns. Borders stamped (Carabelle Studio "Dance Avec les Plumes")

Calligraphy done with a Parallel Pen 1.5mm and Sumi ink. in a Foundational hand.

Quote: Don't underestimate me, I know more than I say, I think more than I speak, and notice more than you realize.

ID: Feathers - A Heart Without Dreams

I dry embossed the background with a feather embossing folder (Elizabeth Craft Designs "Feathers"). Hit the high points with various Distress pads and sponges.

I created quote piece a while back when I was taking a Foundational calligraphy class. I had done the calligraphy, scanned it, added some details in my photo editing software, then imported it into my electronic cutting software and cut from black cardstock. Re-wrote the lettering with a Parallel pen 3.5mm and white ink (Copic Opaque mixed with water). Adhered to embossed background.

Electronically cut some feathers, stamped and colored them (the peacock feather - Local King Rubber "Feather Pleasure"; the small feathers Stampendous "Feathers")

Quote: a heart without dreams is like a bird without feathers.
