We were told at the beginning of the class that we would be making a booklet of all our samples. I knew I was leaving early so started making my booklet before I got the instructions... So needless to say mine is not like every one else's journal.

It was supposed to be: All pages stacked and two holes punched at one end and tied with ribbon. I made mine as a bunch of one page signatures, folding my pages in half and attaching them to the soft cover spine with staples that I put in by hand (didn't have a long reach stapler...) I then hammered the staples as flat as possible and covered the area with some Chiyogami paper. I like the smaller size booklet style.

When I came home I finished some of the Gothic style lettering to add to the pages. I also adhered one signature to another so when you turn the pages there are no blanks.

We started the morning brushing up on our basic Romans with a pencil, then progressing to a broad edge pen, then adding some curve and doodads to the letters.

I have to say - Romans are my least favorite style of lettering to practice...

This was just done on graph paper.

I used Intense Blocks (a stick version of their watercolor pencils) to write my letters on Arches Text Wove, then just smooched some water over it.

I used a stylus to imprint my words into some white cardstock, then used Prisma colored pencils on the side to color over the lines leaving the white of the paper.

I used a flat edged brush (American Painter "Chisel" #6) and watercolors, double dipping my brush to get the two tone letters & done on our Guild's Calligraphy paper.

This one was done with Walnut Ink and Schminke Fine Pale Gold powder and a Pilot Parallel pen on  our Guild's Calligraphy paper.
