ID: Wk 10 - Texture - The Shape And Texture Of Fruit"
Size: 6"w x 6"h

I came across this fruit quote in my search for texture... I just kept repeating the quote to fill all my areas.

I cut out a piece of paper with the 3 fruit shapes to use as a mask. Adhered with Washi tape.

On Super Deluxe Bee paper, using a 6.0 Parallel pen and Sumi ink in a Neuland style lettering, I created the background texture.

Removed my mask and with a Micron .02 pen wrote the text in each fruit shape.

Sponged some Pan Pastels in a red, green & yellow.

Size: 5"w x 8.5"h

I decided to do a 2nd piece for this prompt... On a thick black cardstock and using Bleed Proof white ink and a pointed pen (Zebra G nib) wrote out my central quote text. When dry masked with Washi tape.

Using a Dreaming Dogs "Little Lie" ruling pen and the white ink, wrote the alphabet in a funky monoline style on the left side. On the right side used my 6.0 Parallel pen and the white ink in a very bold lettering style. There's texture in both the size and style of lettering as well as the shades of white.

ID: Wk 11 - New Thoughts
Size:  4.5"w x 6.5"h each

I recently came across text wrote in "Monkey Caps". Basically it's a monoline lettering where each letter touches another which start to look like monkey bars. I don't remember those bars being called that and I can't remember what I used to call them - Sheesh that's almost 60 years ago...

Anyway I wrote the quote out and then scanned it and printed it out in a size I wanted and transferred the text to my cardstock, then used a Zig Writer to go over the pencil lines.

#1 is the basic piece.

#2 has the first word and ever alternate word done with the bullet tip of the Zig writer.

#3  is the basic piece with Calligraphica Cyrstals (Rose Gold) filling the negative space between words.

#4 Is the Calligraphica Crystals (Rose Gold, Sap Green, Mint, Golden Autumn) filling each word with a different color.

ID: Wk 11 - New Thought - With The New Day
Size: 8"w x 6"h

I thought I'd try a technique I came across recently of sprinkling Bister crystals into wet letters... I love the results. I used the yellow, red and blue. and after letting it absorb into the wetness for a minute blotted up the remaining moisture giving a lighter effect.

Used a Simple Simmon #8 Chisel edge brush and slightly dirty water (so I could really see my letters...).

Added the leaf sprig in the negative space which I thought was too bare. Used a Micron 02 very lightly.

Size: 9"w x 11"h

Well this piece definitely exemplifies the words...

On Indigo 140# CP 100% cotton Natural White Deckle Edge WC paper I sprinkled Bister powders (yellow, green, blue). Wrote the quote using a 3.8 & a 6.0 Parallel pen dipped in water. I liked the piece but my lines weren't straight and that bothered me... so I did another piece on a clean piece of the same paper. Again I liked the piece but again the lines weren't straight... Frustrating. I didn't want to use up any more of the paper and I didn't want to write on the backs so... I'm looking at it and Just picked up my water spray bottle and SPRAYED.... Dabbed with paper towels and did it again. Still not satisfied. So I squirted again very liberally and wiped with a paper towel. I'm content with the background now. BIG GRIN

Wrote the text again with the Parallel pens and Sumi ink. Lines are straight, except for that word MATTER. But c'est la vie.

Quote: Ever try. Ever fail. No Matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better. Samuel Barclay Beckett. "Worstward Ho"
