Acrylic Background  (April 2008)

Created: April 5, 2008
Modified: May 17, 2008

The background technique starts out with CP 140 lb watercolor paper (I used Fabriano Artistico). Very concentrated walnut ink made from walnut ink crystals, Distress embossing powders. Also Schmincke Tro-Col Gouache, Copper & Gold. OK, wet your paper with water, then brush on the walnut ink, while wet, sprinkle on the Distress EP, and the Schmincke Tro-Col, then heat set a small area at a time. See Suzanne's background pic. Before I started to heat set, the water and walnut ink were running off the paper, so I dabbed at that with a kleenex tissue. Lay it out flat to dry and separated the layers, then glued it to a piece of black cardstock, stamped a perfect Medium stamped pad all over the surface and clear embossed it.

Used a Dreamweaver two part butterfly stencil (#LW 887) available from Quietfire Design. Used my 2 way glue stick and pounced the glue into all the crevices, then selectively sprinkled various colors of glitter. Put a bit of a shadow outline in some areas with a black micron pen. Used a quill nib and Bleed Proof white ink for the quote. Mounted it to aqua cardstock.
