Acrylic Background  (April 2008)

I caught a really nasty cold and my artwork seems to be reflecting that. This is not my normal type of background. I created it to use for a calligraphy piece I need to make and wanted something that was chaotic or "mish-mash". I cut off a piece to make these ATC's.

I started with a piece of Fabriano Artistico 140 lb CP watercolor paper. Put down blocks of liquid acrylic colors in rectangular and square shapes in weird colors (School Bus Yellow, Metallic copper, Bright Aqua, Bittersweet orange, and Memories Specialty Glace liquid acrylics (Amethyst, Ruby, & Emerald). When dry I outlined the blocks with the bullet tip of a black Zig marker. Then scrapped on white gesso using a palette knife. You could still see some of the underlying colors. When dry put a thin glaze of the Aqua. Weird...

I used a Dreamweaver border stencil (LM236) available at Quietfire Design. Used a Color Box petal point in an aqua green shade to get into all the details of the stencil, then clear embossed it. Added one of my white Calligraphic Peel Offs "My Friend" which I colored with Peel Offs alcohol markers and I used some Pinata Extender with a fine brush to mottle the colors together. Colored the lines with the black marker and when ont he card extended the lines to the edges of the ATC. Added a couple Sakura punched out flowers with one of my background papers and added a Stickles yellow dot in each center. Mounted to a bright yellow cardstock

I used another Dreamweaver corner border stencil (#LJ885) and penciled in the design, then used Diamond Glaze to fill in between the lines and sprinkles some Metallic Iridescent glitter. When dry, went around the raised areas with a green marker. Added a couple sakura flowers as above, and the white Peel Offs "Friends" done with the alcohol markers. Added the rest of the quote with a black micron pen. Mounted to a bright green cardstock.

I used a another Dreamweaver stencil (LJ 853) available at Quietfire Design, but moved the words around so it would fit on my ATC. Used a Color Box petal point in a dark green shade to get into all the details of the stencil, then clear embossed it. Added the black Peel Offs "Friends". Mounted it to aqua cardstock.   

NOTE: The  Peel Offs above will be released in Mid May/08. They are one of my calligraphic word sentiments on the "Elizabeth Craft Design" labels. There are 6 styles available at the moment with another 5 to be available mid May. They come in four different colors (gold, silver, black, and white); "Thank You", "It's a Boy/It's a Girl", "You're Invited" Congratulations" "Happy Birthday & "Love". The five for May are; "Friends", "Thinking of You", "Xmas Seasonal", "Xmas" & Happy Anniversary"
