Xmas Glass Ornaments

Our Guild's Show and Sale will be held Nov 1st this year and we decided to make these glass ornaments as a fund raiser. I've never decorated something like this before, so I said I'd take a couple home and try it out. I then thought two were just not enough so I went to Michael's and bought a 4 ornament pack using my 40% coupon. I'm extremely happy with the results and thought I'd share how I made them and what I used.

I'm going to use a few abbreviations for some of the products.

S.S. = Simple Solutions #3; G.R. = Glitter Ritz micro fine glitter;
P.P. = Perfect Pearls; P.Ex = Pearl Ex; L.A. = Luminarte powder

Note: in all the ornaments I used Q-tips to soak up excess liquid from inside the ornaments.

My calligraphic Peel Offs are available in the Calgary area through Paper Pastimes. For those who are not in Calgary, or who can't get them through their local stamp or art store, they are available online through the Canadian Representative for the Peel Off's brand and who designs under the Elizabeth Craft Design label.

This is the ornament after painting the inside and before decorating the outside.

I drizzled some S.S. into the ornament (not a lot, just enough that would move when I tilted the ornament). I left lots of blank spaces, then sprinkled G.R. black and chartreuse. Let this dry thoroughly.

Outlined the streaks with Stickles Platinum. Added my calligraphic Xmas silver Peel Offs both on the front and the back.

I drizzled some Deco Art Dura Clear exterior varnish into the ornament, then drizzled some Jacquard Sherrill's Sorbets "Blueberry". This was a bit thicker and didn't move much so I helped it along with a  paint brush and worked it into the Dura Clear. Then dropped some alcohol inks into it (Stream & Denim). They had a bit of a reaction with the Sorbet. I then sprinkled some G.R. blue teal. Let this dry thoroughly.

I Outlined some areas with a Pilot Super Color silver pen. Then in a larger blank area I used my extra wide Zig 2 way glue stick, and when tacky, lay down some silver leaf. Then outlined the silver pen detail with my Quickie glue pen and sprinkled some silver glitter. Added some Peel Offs stars and my calligraphic Xmas silver Peel Offs.

This is the ornament after painting the inside and before decorating the outside.

I mixed some S.S. with L.A. copper and another container with solar gold about 4:1 ratio (solution to powder), then drizzled it into the ornament (not too much or everything will blend too much). You want to be able to move the colors around but still keep blank areas. It's easier to add more than to take away.  Let this dry thoroughly.

I used my Inkadinkado Clear rubber stamps both on the front and back (the new Xmas Flourish set) and a black Staz-On stamp pad (note: immediately clean your clear stamp with a rubber stamp cleaner. The Staz on will eat into your clear rubber otherwise).  Added my calligraphic Xmas black Peel Offs. I also colored the silver prong with a Krylon gold leafing pen.

ID: Xmas - Gold/Green Front

ID: Xmas - Gold/Green Back

This is the ornament after painting the inside and before decorating the outside.

I used the same mix from the "Copper/Gold" ornament above, as well as a mixture of P.P. forever green mixed with some P.Ex spring green also using the S.S. solution. Drizzled them into the ornament, moving the color around by tilting. Patience... Then sprinkled some G.R. sweet basil. Let this dry thoroughly.

I punched out some holly leaves (two sizes) from some Sookwang double sided adhesive. Sprinkled G.R. two greens - sweet basil & chartreuse. Then added some red Stickles berries. Rubber stamped the xmas clear stamp with the Staz On. Added my calligraphic Xmas gold Peel Offs. I also colored the silver prong with a Krylon gold leafing pen.

ID: Xmas - Pink/Gold Front

ID: Xmas - Pink/Gold Back

This is the ornament after painting the inside and before decorating the outside.

I used the S.S. mixtures from above - gold & copper and drizzled them into the ornament. Sprinkled some G.R. rose & blue teal. Let this dry thoroughly.

In the upper section I used my extra wide Zig 2 way glue stick, and when tacky, lay down some red variegated gold leaf. Outlined the area with my quickie glue pen and sprinkled G.R. copper. Then outlined it again but with Stickles Gold glitter. I colored the silver prong with a copper Krylon leafing pen and used it to color my white calligraphic Peel Offs.

ID: Xmas - Pink/White Front

ID: Xmas - Pink/White Back

This is the ornament after painting the inside and before decorating the outside.

I drizzled Deco Art Liquid Rainbow (faux stained glass paint) crystal glitter and fuchsia.  Helped them along with a paint brush. Then added some G.R. rose Let this dry thoroughly.

I used a palette knife to smear some Liquitex glass bead medium on the upper section, then sprinkles two shades of rose/purple glitter.  Added my calligraphic Xmas silver Peel Offs both on the front and the back.
