Journaling is a wonderful way to use Pan pastels to add a little pizzaz to your writing. I cut a wavy line on a piece of thin cardstock (my stencil) and positioned it on my black cardstock. Using a cotton ball and Permanent Red pastel, I lightly dusted the edge starting way back on my stencil and just flicking the color of the edge.  Moved my stencil down and over a bit so I didn't have the same patterning all the way down the page. Sprayed my work and then started writing, using a Sakura Gold gel pen.

Note I sprayed the with Krylon workable fixative.
