ID: Ecoline - Resist Pad 3 YO - Faeries
5"w x 7"h

Created: June 5, 2009
Modified:

For the background I used Quietfire Design butterflies both the large and small and the Ranger's Resist stamp pad on glossy paper (see technique detail below). Rubber stamped my quote "Leave room in your garden" also from Quietfire, using a Versafine black stamp pad. Mounted this to a thick green mulberry paper then onto a purple toned cardstock.

Rubber stamped the faerie (Evolving Images #1955) on white cardstock, colored it in with Copic Markers and Tombows and added glitter on the wings, then cut it out.

The flower branch is a Sizzix Bigz die Decorative Leaves & Flowers #655367. Used thick mulberry paper in a brown and a gold flecked green. Adhered them to my page then adhered the faerie.

Used 2 small punches for the purple flowers, an elongated heart shape and an 8 petal floret. Punched them out of marbled rice paper I made ages ago (oriental paper works beautifully as well). Assembled and glued them together, then added some yellow stickles.

Background Technique:

Glossy cardstock. Stamp images with Ranger’s resist stamp pad. Heat set.

Image 1) Put a few drops of Ecoline inks (Ultramarine Violet & Carmine) on a melt art mat (not mixed together) and pick up color on the edge of a clean Inkssentials sponge tool. Just enough to color, but not saturated, and sponge over the whole CS, picking up more ink as needed. Mist CS with water to allow inks to merge/blend; pickup excess water with a paper towel, just in the puddles. Let dry. I didn't like the result so continued with next step.

Image 2) Then go over the whole CS with Yellow Ochre using the sponge tool, working in a circular motion, and the butterflies start to become visible on the page. I then used a clean corner of my sponge tool, slightly wet, and with a circular motion exposed the butterflies even more. I like the soft tones the yellow ochre gave to the whole image.
