I started out with a beautiful white embossed leaf patterned paper which I colored with a Kaleidoscope stamp pad (Creole Spice) using a sponge to apply the ink. I glued it to my book board, gently  skimmed over the high points of the embossed areas with a Brilliance Dew Drops stamp pad (pearlescent olive) and embossed it with Detail Gold then clear embossed it. Added the word "Shirl" with my thermal embossing technique using Stampendous "Amethyst". Added the floral metal closure which I colored with alcohol inks and protected with a clear coat of nail polish. When the book was bound I added some fun fibers and some handmade paper beads (you can see one of them peaking out). The front and back  inside covers are covered with a piece of marbled 100% cotton material I recently made (pinks, browns, gray, white). It's nicely muted after the washing process.

I used Arches 140lb HP watercolor paper and applied the paint with spray bottles (diluted Color Wash, Moon Glows (various iridescent colors), and some walnut ink). Outlined the page with a Krylon gold leafing pen. Rubber stamped the word "Shirl" using an alphabet stamp set  (MSE "Retro Caps") and applied my embossing powders in a selective striped pattern (copper, pearl & gold detail). The words "in memory of" was done with a black micron pen. The stripe on the left side of the page is the linen tape used for creating signatures out of individual pages. Each piece of linen tape was painted with Twinkles H2o's in various shades of gold's, pinks, blues & greens. A view of the spine with the fibers out of the way.

1st Spread: I rubber stamped the quote (Quietfire Design "Each of us") with Color Box chalk stamp pad (Blush Rose) and the musical bars (Sugarloaf stamps) with pearlescent olive stamp pad and detail gold embossing powder.

The Contributors page: I cut a mini square from an eraser and stamped it with Twinkles H2os in various colors, off setting each name. The lettering was done with a Zig black marker and a black Micron pen.

2nd Spread: The contributors pages continued. I rubber stamped the bamboo (Stampendous #P064) pearlescent olive stamp pad and gold detail embossing powder.

3rd Spread: I rubber stamped the bamboo (All Night Media #365J) with pearlescent olive and gold detail embossing powder. I added the words "Friends are kept forever in the heart" with a Zig "chocolate" marker.

The start of my personal pages are all done on cream colored cardstock. I added photos from the various classes I attended with Shirl where she was either a student or a teacher, and mounted them in a decorative way using photo corner punches on bright colored cardstock. The first time I met Shirl was at "A Day Of Crafts" in Nov. 2004 where she taught us to make paper beads. This page also has fibers where I attached some paper beads I recently made.
