I signed up for Texas Lettering Arts Holiday Projects 3 day classes. loving these projects...

This one was taught by Gemma Black. What a fabulous booklet design. The accordion portion of the spine can be left so it expands or tied closed like a real book. I left mine open.

I used white Stonehenge for the covers cut to 6" high and 19.5"w, painted the linear design with my favorite colors of watercolors (Holbien, Opera Pink, Peacock Blue and Permanent Green #1; Winsor Newton Quinacridone Red & Cadmium Yellow). When dry outlined the lines with a black Zig Writer. Wrote in the title with a 4.5 Parallel pen and Sumi ink in Gothicized Italic. Accordion folded my 5 spines with 1/2" folds (they can be any size).

Created 5 signatures of 4 folios, 3 of Arches Text Wove paper and 2 of Columbia Mills End paper. Sewed them into the accordion valley folds using different colors (same as the painted design) of 4ply waxed linen thread.

Added a variety of beads from glass, wood, stone, handmade paper beads, metal and plastic. I added letter beads to start each strand to spell "COLOR".

Added a silver floral toggle clasp to the front with the waxed thread and doing a touch of a half hitch knot strand.
