ID: No Sew Booklet - BD Card |
Created: May 12, 2013 Our Guild's Friday Frolics was having a Gelli plate session. I recently bought one of those plates, so pulled it out (after searching high & lo...) and did some experimenting with it. Cut up Arches Text Wove paper into 6" squares (the size of my Gelli plate) and just pulled a bunch of prints. When I was getting ready to make the booklet I realized I wanted to have the backside colored as well. So pulled prints again...

Used my EK Success
Circle Scissor to cut 6" circles. Folded in half, then half
again. Unfolded and inverted the folds to create those inside
flaps. Glued all my sections together using PVA glue and a
palette knife. Now it would have been easier to do the calligraphy before I put the booklet together, but at the time I didn't know what I was going to do with it. I was using it more as a sampler for a "No Sew Booklet" class I'm giving next Sunday. But then one of my friend's birthdays is coming up soon, and I thought this would make a fabulous gift for her and that's when the calligraphy came in to play. I used a 6.0 Parallel Pen to do the Job Wouters style large letters that I created spelling Happy Birthday (and my friend's name) and a pointed pen with Sumi ink for the finer "Fickle" letters which i also created . There are 10 circles in this booklet, so 20 sections for calligraphy, more if you want to do the sides. My other booklets like this are tied with a ribbon to keep closed, but this time I wanted to encase it. It was a perfect place to use one of Quietfire Designs rubber stamps that I love "How Old Would You Be..." which I stamped with Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed. |
