I created the cover
quite some time ago and can't really remember what I did. I'm
pretty sure I sponged Distress stamp pad "Black Soot" around all
the edges of white mat board, brushed on Perfect Pearls "Perfect
Pearls" and then sprinkled water over it. Wrote in my quote with
a Parallel Pen, and at first I was a little upset with the
bleeding, but then I started to really like what happened. It
just gave another dimension to the piece and went well with the
water droplets. I believe I had started this piece as my
September piece for the BVCG Galleria which was "Black, White,
Grey and a touch of Color". I had shoved it in amongst a
bunch of other stuff and then forgot about it. Luckily I put too
much on one of my shelves and it broke, so in the process of
moving stuff around to fix it I came across these cover pieces
again. The covers ended up being a single piece of mat board, and the spine I used book board for added strength. I had really wanted black eyelets, but didn't have any so settled for the silver ones, which also turned out OK. My touch of color was the 4 ply waxed linen thread in red I used to do the Belgian Eyelet stitching. The signatures are held together with a 4 ply white waxed linen thread. The back cover is just black mat board. |

I love the inside cover paper which is this glorious black paper with silver flourishes. I thought it went perfectly with this book, The back is the same paper but with the flourish going towards the right. Each of the 12 signatures has 6 pieces of Xerox Premium White 24# paper folded in half to make 24 pages per signature for a total of 288 writeable pages. I added 4 black book corners.
