This is another one of the instructions from the Mary Kaye Seckler book called "Book Arts - Beautiful Bindings for Handmade Books". It was called "Long Tall Sally". I changed the size and a lot of the detailing.

I used book board for the covers, and covered them with a heavily textured, beautiful bright yellow paper. On the inside of the covers I used a rectangular/geometric scrapbook paper that had all the colors of my ribbons. (see pic below)

This book has 11 signatures of 5 pages each, plus the envelope. Since I used store bought envelopes, I didn't have much lea way to trim the pages after folding and signature build up, so I staggered the  the size of each page within the signatures. This way you get approximately a 1/8th inch view of the different pages within the signatures and the envelope just pokes it's head out.

For the covers of each signature I alternated between a Canson Mi-Tientes (yellow) & a Stonehenge (natural). Each signature also included Magna Carta "Parchment" (gold), Cardstock (ivory), Domtar copy paper (bright yellow), Southworth Curiculum Vitae paper 100% cotton (ivory) & Gartner envelopes (yellow).

I used a bright yellow DMC embroidery floss to sew the signatures in a running stitch. The beads are a variety of wood, metal and glass medium sized (#8) seed beads.

I wrote the words "call me mellow yellow" using a yellowish zig marker, then mixing my own yellow paint color using Golden's fluid acrylics, Folk Art Acrylics and Chroma Color paint, I painted over my marker letters. I barely shadow outlined each letter with a Zig .005 burgundy pen.

I tied bundles of 8 different yarns to each of the 11 embroidery tails.
