Our challenge for our April 6th meeting is to continue with the Flag or double Flag Books  #10 from Hedi Kyle's "Art Of The Fold" book or to just create something you feel like.

One of the gals at the least get together had made a frame flag book and again I was intrigued...

So I decided to raid my stashes. A couple years ago I took out all my embossing folders and embossed them on white cardstock. Then I stopped making greeting cards and they languished... Then I raided my quilled flowers. I'm pleased

I accordion folded (every 1.25") my cream toned Staples 110# cardstock, splicing where needed.

Wrote out the quote on Columbia Mills LBS End Paper using a pointed nib and Holbien Gouache (mix of Burnt Umber & Pearl Copper) and gold Schmincke powder. Then shadowed with a "Scarlet Pink" Derwent Inktense pencil. Used a corner rounder on the corners and edged with a Krylon Gold leafing pen.

I folded a piece of my dark brown Ruche paper and adhered one edge to the front cover then adhered the quote piece leaving room for the other end to slip under.

Final touch, added some quilled flowers and leaves.

I sponged Distress browns onto my embossed pieces, then hit the high points direct to paper with the pad. Trimmed down to create the frame.

Adhered the frame to the accordion fold approx 1/4" from the score line.

Cut ream toned frame inserts, using the dropped out pieces as my template. Adhered all the quilled elements then wrote out my words with a pointed pen and Walnut ink.

Held my frame flat to adhere the quilled element so it would fit perfectly through the frame openings.

I used a couple of the drop out pieces from the embossing to use as pockets for a message which I adhered to both ends on the inside.
