This is the 5th day of the online watercolor for cards class. Today's tutorials are definitely a little more involved... but if you have the time... they give great impact.

I didn't have a large background stamp that was open enough for the technique Jennifer was showing today, so used an embossing folder as a stamp instead...

I'm using one of the older birthday (Happy Birthday/Let them Eat Cupcakes set), as well as the "Butterfly Circles" set and "Butterfly/Dragonflies" set stamp from  Quietfire Design.

Watercoloring an Embossed image technique with Jennifer McGuire

I stamped the design (Couture Creations "Tied Together")  using the embossing folder as a stamp and Versafine Black Onyx stamp pad on Arches 90# HP watercolor paper, clear embossed. Painted the areas with Derwent Inktense watercolor pencils and a very loaded brush with water so the color floats and spreads.

Hand cut apart the design and adhered to my white card.

Stamped the "Happy Birthday" using Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed. Hand cut and hit the edges with a dirty blue sponge. Adhered to card front with 3D foam tape.

Added the rhinestones to the centers of the design on alternate rows. Then applied Liquid Pearls "White Opal" dots on the other rows.

Couldn't resist but the spray of glittered butterflies into the white area.

On the inside, stamped the quote with the black. Stamped the butterflies using Distress markers to paint my stamp, misted with water and stamped.
