GetWell (02/08)

ID: Get Well (02/08) Card
5"w x 6.5"h

An online friend sent a link to a U-Tube Scor-it demo. I checked it out and liked what I saw. This is my rendition which I made for a friend who is under the weather.

The background is a piece of 110lb Ib white cardstock which I dropped acrylic paint onto (FolkArt "Leaf Green", "Spring Green" & "Aqua Bright"). Used a 1/2" brush to cross hatch the colors randomly, trying not to mix the colors together too much. I didn't like the brightness of it against my vase, so when it was almost dry I dropped on another color (Ceramcoat Delta "Dark Jungle") and cross hatched and dry brush that into the first layer. When dry I swiped a Mica Magic stamp pad (green) over the whole thing. It left a very subtle golden sheen to the background. I cut the background down tot he size I needed and scored my lines using the Scor-It. Then sanded over the whole thing lightly.

For the vase;

I rubber stamped the vase (Stubby Stampers "Indian Vase") using a gold stamp pad and detail gold embossing powder. Didn't like that too much either so over stamped it with black and detail black embossing powder. So both colors are visible since it was slightly offset. Rubbed on a bit of Metallic rub ons (pinks and bronze). Cut it out, put a slit in for my bamboo to appear like it's in the vase. Glued it to my background. which I mounted to a piece of white cardstock and then onto the main black card.

For the bamboo, I scored a piece of white cardstock several times at various heights. Rubbed on some chalk stamp pads in greens and browns on both sides, slivered the cardstock to get my thin bamboo stalks. Bunched them together and put them through the slit of the card, gluing them down with some white glue.
