Franklin_FibreCard

ID: Franklin - Fibre Card
5"w x 7"h

I entered this card into the 2006 Heritage Fall Fair here in Calgary and it won a 1st prize Ribbon, and Best of Section ribbon as well as a special award gift.

Some of you may recognize this type of artwork from a ByHand Fiber swap we had in 2005. This piece is from a new batch.

I started out with covering an 8 x 10" piece of cardstock with Zyron, then working one area at a time while keeping the rest covered not to get hairy fibres where not wanted. I laid down my fibres in an abstract pattern. I then cut out the portion I wanted for my card adding beads, button and rhinestones. I mounted it onto an aqua cardstock. I edged the fibre area with Liquitex glass beads (as decoration but also to protect the edges from lifting). I then mounted that onto the main brown cardstock. I add the words around the card with Dr Martin's Bleed Proof white ink.

Words: "When all is said and done, friendship is the only trustworthy fabric of affection. So-called love is a delirious inhuman state of mind. When hot it substitutes indulgence for fair play, when cold it is cruel; but friendship is warmth in cold, firm ground in a bog." Miles Franklin
