Well Mylar's been around for ages, but it was only this weekend that I came across some specifically for the arts & craft industry called Shimmer Sheetz available through ECraftDesigns.com. So I picked up a few sheets. There was a demo as well with some of the possibilities. I was intrigued.

I cut out the large shell with my Cricut. First placing a piece of black Shimmer Sheetz over some double sided tape, cutting the shape, but not cutting through the tape (got to get the right depth for your blade). Then removing some of the black Shimmer Sheetz, which leaves behind the pearlescent layer. I think this product is absolutely fabulous for shells.

Took a piece of terra cotta colored cardstock, (PEI sand is this color). Embossed the flourish design borders using my rubber mallet. Rubber stamped the quote (Quietfire Design) with Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed it. Mounted this to an aqua card.

Adhered my shell with adhesive pop squares. Adhered some pieces of real shells with Golden's extra heavy gel matte medium. Smeared a bit of Perfect Medium and Distress Antique Linen embossing powder. Think Tim's powder for sand is perfect, both for looks and feel.

Isn't the Mother Of Pearl on the shells exactly right??
