Please note, instructions (U Tube) for both types of origami flowers were found on AM Stamps blog.

Our Guild put out a theme for February's Galleria of Backgrounds (of course with some lettering on it BIG GRIN). I finally got down to making some. This one is done with corrugated cardstock which had a bunch of layers of paint, gesso and stuff put on it.

1st layer was some Utrecht white gesso leaving lots of cardboard show through and a bit of Golden's Pumice. All layers were left to dry before applying the next layer unless otherwise stated. 2nd layer was various colored tissue paper (salmon, turquoise/green variegated, yellow) adhered with Golden's soft gel medium and really scrunched up. 3rd layer was a diluted coat of Golden's Fluid Acrylic "Quinacridone Burnt Orange" mixed with Golden's Polymer Medium and a bit of water. 4th layer was the same as 3rd but using "Jenkins Green. 5th layer was a little more of # 3 & 4 layers. 6th layer was same as 3rd - a little thicker and using "Iridescent Bright Gold".

The origami flower was done with some decorative wrapping paper in golds and a touch of peach in a circular pattern. I colored the back of it with some Distress stamp pads and a sponging tool. Used a Marvy 2" dia scalloped flower punch and then folded each, cutting them in half after the folds were made. Adhered them to a small circle for easier attaching to the card. Added a bunch of flower stamen. Mounted both of these items to a Bazzill Monochromatic cardstock (aqua toned, then onto the deep red card. Weird color combo, but I love the boldness of it. I also added one of my Peel Offs calligraphic sentiments. The quote was written with a Ranger's white Inkssentials pen.

Quote: "And the day came when the risk to remain tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom." Anais Nin

The flower on the tag is more the tea bag origami folded type (it's not a flat flower). I punched out the first tag Emagination "jumbo tag" from some Bazzill Monochromatic light purple cardstock, then traced it and cut the other layers a touch bigger (med purple and dark purple).

I used a textured pearlized off white paper and alcohol inks. The used my circle cutter to cut 3 circles and used a pair of scalloped scissors on the edge. Attached it to my main tag and added a large purple rhinestone with Golden's extra heavy gel medium. Punched a hole and added the funky fibers.

The lettering on the other tags was done with gel pens and outlined with a micron. Added the white dot border with the Ranger white pen.
