ID: VSN November 2011 - Winter - Warm Wishes card
 x 4.25"h (top fold)

Created: Nov 6, 2011

This is my submissions for the Vamp Stamp Magazine for the January 2012 issue with the theme of "Winter Wonderland".

The winter quote is a Quietfire Design rubber stamp.

To create the background for my scene I used a cheapie watercolor pad by Canson 90# paper and cut it a bit larger than what I'd need.

Step 1: squeeze out in streaks Distress Stains Spun Sugar in the central area. Squeeze Antique Linen above and below the Sugar in about 3" streaks. Then squeeze the Pumice Stone, also in 3" steaks here and there. Mist generously with water, tilt paper to get the colors running and merging. Dry with hairdryer till almost dry. You want your paper to be moist, but not wet.

Step 2: Touch the tip of the bamboo skewer into the Black Soot reinker and drag the tip along the horizon line, so you get some thin lines and variations, and some small blobs. Give a burst of the mister into the small blobs and watch it feather. You can dab with a tissue to stop some of the process. Also use the tip to drag a line from the wet area to create valleys or twig type branches. Kist lightly with perfect pearls "Perfect Pearls" mister. Dry with hair dryer.

Step 3: Stamp your various tree stamps onto tracing paper, roughly cut around them and place them on your background to get an idea of positioning and height. Use a post it note, to mask areas and shorten your trees so you get nice variations and give the illusion of distance. Add some birds in the sky with a Zig Writer. Trim down to required size.

Dab some Pearl Dauber onto a craft sheet, mist with water, smush your paintbrush into the mixture and then flick onto your landscape. Immediately sprinkle with the Ritz micro fine glitter "Warm Highlights". Let dry.

Stamp the sentiment with Versafine Black Onyx.

Adhere to black cardstock and trim close, then adhere to main white card.
