I thought I'd make a postcard that didn't use conventional cardstock but rather canvas material used in the garden. I painted a larger piece than I needed with Golden's Fluid Acrylic paints diluted to a milk consistency. Misted my canvas and then just lay down my colors, one next to the other so they bled and merged. I didn't over paint very much. I wanted clean colors. Let that dry. I then used a Dreamweaver brass stencil of a swirl design LJ855 and white molding paste. Cleaned my stencil immediately. Let that dry |

Rubber stamped my large Flower (unknown by Anita's Back Street) and the small grouping of flowers (Old Island #727) with Versafine Vintage Sepia and clear embossed it. The embossing sinks into the fabric, but that's ok. It helps to give a permanence to the stamped image. I then colored in the stamped images with Prisma colors, first laying down a layer of white, then colors, then blending with white again. The red swirl is a punched out foam piece stamped with red paint. The quote is from the Friendship Quote Marks set (Quietfire Design) and stamped with the Sepia. |
I lightly stencilled around 2 edges with Distress Blue Jeans. Cut the fabric to size. Cut a slightly smaller piece of cardstock to sandwich between the fabric and which was held to the fabric with some double sided tape, both on the front and back of the cardstock. This held the fabric in place while sewing which was done with a blanket stitch (with an overcast foot).
As a finishing touch, I added some
3D fabric paint dots in a black & yellow. Then colored some of the round open
shaped letters with a white colored pencil. |
