ID: MC Nov/18 - Easel Faux Stained Glass - ECD Laugh - Nature Gives - HB card
size: 7"w x 5"H (easel closed)

Created: November 8, 2018
Modified:

One of my online friends uploaded a faux stained glass card colored with alcohol inks and then filled each area with Glossy Accents. Turned out beautifully, but a bit more work than I wanted to do... I've been a stained glass artist for over 40 years and always loved working with antique glass and glue chip glass...

I'm using an A Way With Words dies  "Laugh" from Elizabeth Craft Designs, also available on Quietfire Design HERE

I'm using a rubber sentiment stamps from Quietfire Design

("Autumn Collection - Nature Gives..." 4pce set); ("The Earth Laughs In Flowers" 2pce set); ("Twiggy Heart Wreath & Sentiments" 5pce set)

Scored and folded my cream toned cardstock to create the easel structure. Cut the opening for the stained glass window.

Die cut the rose several times, cut away sections to create the floral bunch. Adhered them together then inked with Versafine Black Onyx and embossed with Emerald Creek "Oil Rubbed Bronze" embossing powder. It mimicked a nice patina on silver solder. Adhered to some Graffix clear plastic using Glossy Accents.

Colored the backside with alcohol inks and a paint brush.

Painted the left hand open area with Distress "Clear Rock Candy" Crackle Paint and set aside to dry. I should have realized it wouldn't stick properly to the plastic... it was flaking... c'est la vie. So I cut a mask to cover of the flowers, placed it on another piece of plastic and sprayed with spray adhesive, adhered to the backside of the alcohol painted piece sandwiching the crackle. Time will tell if the crackle migrates...

Die cut the Laugh from a black cardstock. Adhered to frame edge.

If you look closely on the left hand bottom area, you can see some of the crackle effect.

On the floor: I needed to hide anything I put on the floor so it wouldn't show up through the window when the card was closed. So I cut a piece of cream cardstock, scored in half and adhered one half to the floor. The other half side would fold over and hide everything...I used a corner punch (EK Success Corner Adorned "Square Steps"). The folded over part will fit into the corners.

I added a stopper to the floor. Stamped the Happy Birthday with Versafie Black Onyx and clear embossed. Die cut with Spellbinders oval die set and sponged some Distress red around edges. Adhered to floor stopper.

Stamped the quote and flowers with the black and clear embossed. Colored the flowers with Derwent Inktense pencils and a paint brush.
