ID: MC May/17 - Easel Double Embossed Stars - ECD With Sympathy - Perhaps They Are Not Stars card
size: 7"w x 5"h (easel closed)

Created: July 18, 2017
Modified:

I was in a mood to try a double embossing through a stencil... It's hard to see, but in real life you can and also feel the height of the stars.

I'm using an A Way With Words die "With Sympathy" 2pce die and stencil "Butterfly and Stars Spray" from Elizabeth Craft Designs, also available on Quietfire Design HERE. and HERE

And using a quote stamp from Quietfire Design,

("Perhaps They Are Not Stars...");

Scored and folded my light toned lavender cardstock to create the easel, cutting another piece the same size as card for the front.

On white cardstock created the star spray background - see full details below - finally inking the stars with Versamark and embossing with Emerald Creek "Iridescent Shimmer"

Stamped the quote with Distress Picket Fence and embossed with white embossing powder.

Added a few punched stars from a clear glittered/shimmer plastic.

On the floor: die cut the words from a deeper lavender cardstock.

Adhered a piece of net ribbon to the floor, then an off cut from my above background, then the die cut words. Added some of the punched stars

Placed the stencil on my white cardstock and inked with Versamark direct to paper.
Sprinkled with clear embossing powder and heat set.

Direct to paper with Stormy Sky and then with Chipped Sapphire

Sponged with Seedless Preserves to give a more blended look, then continue Direct to paper with Dusty Concord

Last color Blueprint Sketch. Wiped off the excess of colors with a paper towel.
Misted and sprinkled with water, allowed it to sit for a few seconds and then tabbed with a paper towel.

Layered the background between some newsprint and using a hot dry iron, ironed off the clear embossing, moving the piece into a new clean area and continued to iron off the embossing until all was ironed off.
Placed the stencil back over the stars, tapping it down so it doesn't move.

Turned the background over and placed on a light box (use a window if you don't have a light box) and with a small balled stylus trace the stars to emboss.
Remove stencil and you can see some of the height of the stars. (You can leave it as is or continue with the double embossing...)

Wipe the background with an antic static powder. Place the stencil back in place over the raised embossed stars. Ink with Versamark or other clear embossing ink.
Sprinkle with Emerald Creek (or other glittered or iridescent type embossing powder) Iridescent Shimmer and heat set.
