ID: MC Jun/17 - Easel Oxide Kenya - ECD Because Special - HB card
size: 5"w x 7"h (easel closed)

Created: June 12, 2017
Modified:

This is another one of my more recent Oxide backgrounds I made when with the gals. This one was vibrant and just asked to be an African sky...

I'm using a couple of an A Way With Words die "Because" and "Special Moments" 2pce set from Elizabeth Craft Designs, also available on Quietfire Design HERE and HERE

I'm using part of a sentiment stamp and a sentiment stamp from Quietfire Design.

("Happy Birthday Plain and Simple"); ("We Cannot Tell the Precise Moment..." 2 pce cuddler set)

Scored and folded my black cardstock to create the easel, and cut another piece same size for the front.

See below for what the full sheet of the oxide background looked like prior cutting apart for this card. Adhered to the black front piece. The lower part of the front is done with a subdued dirty Paper Towel background. I wanted the texture to mimic the ground he was walking on...

I electronically cut the African tree images from white cardstock, painted with Distress Dabber "Black Soot", dried then inked with a black pad and embossed with Distress "Black Soot" embossing powder.

I also electronically cut the elephant piece (Local King Rubber "Kenya"), then inked my stamp with a grey and a brown stamp pad.

Adhered the elements to the card front.

Die cut the "Because" from a scrap piece on my desk.

On the floor:

Continued and adhered the paper towel background.

Die cut the "Special" from another background on lying my desk... adhered to a black cardstock.  Stamped the  "Happy Birthday" and the  "you are" masking it from the rest of the stamp, inking with "Habanero" and embossing with Emerald Creek "Thanksgiving" embossing powder. Die cut using Spellbinders Oval die set.

Added a row of mosaic black rhinestone for the stopper.

Final touch, added a black/silver Sari ribbon.

Apply Oxide pads on a craft sheet, mist with water and then pounce with heavy weight paper or cardstock into the mess, repeating until the whole sheet is covered to my liking... I used the right hand piece for the front of this card. The rest was used on another card...
