My turn on the digital blog at Quietfire  and I'm using an Xmas Lantern digital file that Suzanne recently came out with available on the Silhouette onLine store.. Love the shape. And while making it, I said to myself it would make a great Halloween lantern... (Click HERE to see the Christmas lantern.)

I opened my SCAL (Sure Cuts A Lot) software and opened the Christmas lantern file. It takes about 1 sheet of 12 x 12 and 1 sheet of 8.5 x 11 in the pumpkin cardstock and then whatever in black for your embellishments. (See below for the layout in SCAL)

I cut everything out, folded along all the score lines. Then started gluing my embellies on the lantern body only. Adhered the side, bottom and top to create the lantern shape. (PS Make sure you leave enough room to squeeze your little candle light through one of the ovals.)

Adhered the tabs for the roof. Pierced a hole through the peak an floor of the roof, strung my black ribbon through the hole with a long darning needle, adhere to the floor with Sookwang tape. Added some hot glue at the peak to thoroughly secure my ribbon and make sure the hole doesn't expand. Adhered to lantern body.

Adhered a small "L' shaped piece, the length of the word, to the "Boo" to adhere to roof as well as to strengthen the word.

On the back side I attached a small tab to the bat to adhere to the roof. Added some glitter to the eyes.

I removed the the Christmas embellies before cutting from my pumpkin cardstock

I scavenged for my various embellies through the cut files, then lay them out along the top and bottom edges of my work surface. That way I didn't have to waste cardstock and cutting time and only cut what I needed. Trimmed things done to fit the lantern.
