I came across a tutorial for coloring the Altenew stamps using Brushos... Since I had just bought some new sets... I thought I'd try the technique. It's OK but I prefer using watercolors or Distress pads and misting.. or for that matter, creating a background paper and then stamping and fussy cutting or using my electronic cutter. That would be just as serendipitous.

I'm using one of the newest A Way With Words die from Elizabeth Craft Designs "Cherish" - also available on Quietfire Design HERE

And I'm using a sentiment on the front and quote stamp on the inside from Quietfire Design

("Queen of Everything..." 10pce set); ("We Do Not Remember...")

I side folded my white card. Sponged some Distress Frayed Burlap" around the edges.

Die cut the brick wall corner piece (Sizzix "Mixed Media 3" set) from white cardstock. Placed a piece of Sookwang tape over the negative pieces still in my die, trimmed off the excess tape. Inked the positive piece with Versamark and clear embossed, then adhered it to the tape as well. Started applying some gel medium to each brick to give it a textured look. Set aside to dry, then sponged it with "Antique Linen" and a touch of "Festive Berry" and wiped of the excess ink. Adhered to card front.

Created an electronic file to cut the flower components. Placed on my Misti tool and started the layer of color. Solid layer with the Brusho's (Lemon Yellow" and "Alizarin Crimson"). The 1st shadow layer with Distress "Aged Mahogany" and the accent shadow layer and outline with "Black Soot".

The leaves were die cut from alcohol decorated glossy paper from my stash using Cheery Lynn Designs "Tropical Leaves".

Die cut the "Cherish" from red cardstock.

Adhered all my elements and added a red/white twine bow.

On the inside: Stamped the quote using Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed on white cardstock. Die cut with Elizabeth Craft Designs "Stitched Ovals" die set. Sponged edges with a dirty red then brown sponge.

Colored another set of flowers/bud from watercolor paper and the Brusho's technique. The leaves were done with Distress pads.

Adhered all my elements, sponging some brown around the edges.
