I came across an oriental watercolor painting of Bamboo on Pinterest that just hit me... I decided to CASE the artist. You can see the painting HERE I don't know who the artist is, sigh... I created my painting with Pan Pastels and rubber stamps BIG GRIN.

I'm using one of the NEWEST "A Way With Words" dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs the "Thank" from ("Thank You") & an "s" from ("Congrats"), designed by Suzanne Cannon (also available HERE & HERE). PS I do have a one piece Thanks die, but I couldn't find it...

I'm also using a quote stamp on the inside from Quietfire Design

("Give Thanks" 2pce set);

I scored and folded my white soft finish card, using the smooth side.

For those of you who are calligraphers, you'll know how to manipulate and twist your pen to create thick/thin/thick downward strokes. I used a sofft square edged sponge over an altered plastic glue spreader (see pic below). For these bamboo stocks I loaded my sponge with Phthalo Green, then one edge with Bright Yellow Green, positioned my tool and did a little sideways wiggle stroke to create the bulbous part of the stock, then started twisting my pen to create a thinner downward stroke, then twisting in the opposite direction to get back to a full thickness, wiggled my tool for the bottom bulbous part and lifted the tool. Voila. Continued to create all the various stock pieces. I then used a pointy paper stump and a touch of black Pan Pastels for the shadow on the bulbous areas, blending a bit. Stamped various bamboo leaf stamps using Versafine Black Onyx. (PS I stamped them on tracing paper so I could see exactly where I wanted them to go. (Old Island Rubber stamps "Bamboo Sprig" & "Small Bamboo"; Enchanted Ink "Oriental Dreams")

Used my finger wrapped in a dried out baby wipe to smear various blues in the sky area, then a touch of purple over the blues.

Stamped the oriental Thanks word in the center and didn't like it there, so covered it with a punched out glossy white circle, adding some blue and purple to it and then some veining to mimic a moon...

Die cut the Thank and "s" from white cardstock and colored with various blue and purple alcohol markers. Adhered to card.

Created an eCut file for the bird/flower stamp (Local King Rubber "Asian Essence") so no fussy cutting... eCut the blackout image, inked the stamp with various Distress mini pads, misted with water and stamped. Adhered to card.

Stamped the Asian "Thank" word (Sunday International "Kanji" set) using the black and clear embossed.

On the inside: stamped the bamboo background (Impression Obsession "Bamboo" inking all over with "Shabby Shutters", then here and there with "Forest Moss" and "Mowed Lawn", misted with water and stamped.

Stamped the quote on white cardstock using the black and clear embossed. Die cut using Spellbinders Label 4 die set, sponged some blue around the edges.

Created an eCut file for this bird and flower as well. Inked stamp with Distress mini pads, misted with water and stamped.

that is Phthalo Green on the far right, even though it doesn't look like it...
