ID: MC Aug 16 - Faux Lace - To Create - The Only True Gift - HB card
size: 5"w x 7"h

One of the gals from our quilling group will be teaching/demoing the "Faux and Fancy Lace Technique". I remember doing this technique eons ago - everything old is new again... So I checked back to see my instructions and created a new card to bring with me for show and share. It's wicked on the fingers... I need to find my adhesive eraser.

Another gal from quilling brought a card with flowers similar to those purple ones, so I said I'd try to mimic them for here. They're made with a circle punch from a smoother type of mulberry paper.

I'm using a a couple quote. sentiment and design element stamps from Quietfire Design

("To Create is to touch..."); ("The Only True Gift..."); ("Butterfly/Dragonfly" 7pce set)

Scored and side folded my white cardstock. Embossed using Cuttlebug Anna Griffin "Rosa" embossing folder. Hit the high points with Distress "Spun Sugar" then lightly went over it with a dirty purple sponge.

Created my faux lace piece on white cardstock. Using the brown liner type ATG tape (out of the tool), apply it onto the cardstock without pressing down. When cardstock is covered, use your finger to roll/distort the adhesive creating a lacy look. Sprinkle with some glitter (Stickles "Thistle", Ritz "Sea Green"); some Perfect Pearls or other dry mica powders (PP "Blue Raspberry", Dreamweaver FX "Pixie Blush"); then gold leaf or any color leaf. Start pressing down and removing the excess. When done paint in the open areas with ArtQuest watercolor paint "Pastelle". Trim and adhere to a mid toned purple cardstock, then onto front of card, tying a purple/pink/gold Sari ribbon/bow.

The flowers were punched with a 3/4circle punch from a yellow toned medium thickness mulberry paper. Sprayed with a mix of Perfect Pearls, water, Brusho ("Rose Red". & "Violet"). While wet, added some violet Brusho to my craft sheet and smeared the circles through the color. Dried, then tooled. Adhered the petals in 2 layers of 3 petals onto a small 5/16 punched circle. Added some Beadz (beads in a glue mix from eons ago...), Set aside to dry - takes a while...

Stamped the quote using Distress "Picket Fence" on a blue/pink velum, embossed with white embossing powder. Trimmed down and adhered to card front.

The butterfly was eCut from white cardstock, stamp inked with the spun sugar all over and edges with the purple, misted with water and stamped. Adhered to card at the body only.

On the inside: stamped the quote and sentiment using "Dusty Concord" and embossed with Emerald Creek "Frosted Plum" embossing powder.

Stamped the butterflies as per the from.

Stamped the "Enjoy Your Day" using the spun sugar all over and the hitting here and there with the purple.
