ID: MC Aug 16 - Faux Lace - To Create - The Only True Gift - HB card
size: 4"w x 8.5"h

Created: August 20, 2016
Modified:

This was an easier method of the faux lace technique that I showed the gals at our last meeting how to do... So of course had to use the sample. BIG GRIN

I'm using one of the more recent A Way With Word dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs "Dream" also available on Quietfire Design HERE

I'm using a quote. and a bunch of sentiment stamps from Quietfire Design

("Garden Delights - Remember That The Earth..." 8pce set); ("Happy Birthday Plain and Simple"  7 pce set);

Scored and side folded my white cardstock.

Embossed a separate piece of white cardstock using Elizabeth Craft Designs "Sea Glass" embossing folder. Hit the high points with Distress Crayons, misted with a bit of water and moved the colors around with my finger. Dried, Inked high points with Versamark and clear embossed. Adhered to card front.

The faux lace: apply strips of ATG tape on a craft sheet close together. Remove release paper. Start moving the tape around using a very small balled stylus (it's almost pointy), until you get a lacy effect. Press some cardstock down onto the tape, pressing firmly to get the tape to stick well. Carefully lift the cardstock (you may have to help start the tape to lift). You should have all the tape on the cardstock now. Sprinkle with glitter - I use a blue, black and green and some crystal snow, then burnished. Painted the white areas using an ArtQuest watercolor palette in a very watered down green and blue. Trimmed and layered on to a deep blue cardstock.

Colored some narrow ribbon using Distress blue pads, dried, and adhered to faux lace panel. Adhered panel to card front.

eCut the seahorse and coral sprigs (Designs By Ryn "Sea Creatures 1" set), stamped and painted.

Die cut the word "Dream" from white cardstock. Inked with "Mermaid Lagoon" and embossed with Emerald Creek Hot Stuff "Blue Sparkle" embossing powder.

On the inside: created a collage stamped background using various "Happy Birthday" words inked with "Weathered Wood". Stamped the school of fish and the starfish (Designs By Ryn "Sea Creatures 2" set) using various Distress pads.

Stamped the quote onto white cardstock using "Blueprint Sketch" and hitting here and there with "Peacock Feathers", clear embossed. Die cut using Elizabeth Craft Designs "Stitched Oval" set. Sponged around edge with "Tumbled Glass".
