ID: MC Aug /16 -  Easel Stacked Cut - ECD Peace - May Your Longest List card
size: 7"w x 5"h (Easel Closed)

Created: August 11, 2016
Modified:

I'm using another one of the newest  "A Way With Words" dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs which will be available soon ("Peace"); also available on Quietfire Design HERE

And on the floor I'm using a quote stamp from Quietfire Design

("May Your Longest List...")

The stacked cut technique I'm using is something I saw done by Jennifer McGuire HERE

Since ECD dies do not have a blackout/shadow type layer, I created a blackout layer by using my Silhouette cutter and a bit of scanning/photo editing.

To create the blackout layer, place your die on your scanner bed, cutting side facing UP. Scan.

In your photo editing program, convert he file to black and white (I prefer scanning in color and then converting, gives a better image...). Use your photo editing tools, to fill all the holes in black, clean up the edges, and fill the inner spaces of the word in black, save. This is what my image looks like.

Import it into your cutting software. I used Sure Cuts A Lot which imports it exactly the size I scanned it, so no altering. Double check your type of software and adjust size if necessary.

Place the image on your cutting mat. In my case I had my cardstock landscape mode, copied and pasted the image 3 more times and placed them:

1st row: 1" & 6.5 from left & 1.125" from the top
2nd row: 1" & 6.5 from left & 5.5" from top

Cut and repeated cutting a 2nd piece of  65# white cardstock. Stacked the 2 pieces of cardstock, your opening should match... and cut between the openings to create 8 pieces 5."w x 4.25". Cut a channel  through the die cut word to create the upper and bottom halves.

I used the blackout pieces to cut my word die.

I used Distress pads - some of the layers were sponged (S) and other were direct to paper (D).

in stacked order: "Tumbled Glass" S; "Tumbled Glass" D; "Broken China" D; "Stormy Sky" S; "Chipped Sapphire" S; "Faded Jeans" S; "Faded Jeans" D; "Stormy Sky" D;

Adhered the layers slightly off set, trimmed edges and adhered to a piece of dark blue cardstock5"h x 6"w. Inked one of the die cut words with Versafine "Smoky Grey" and embossed with Silver embossing powder.

Scored and folded my mid toned blue textured cardstock to create the easel. Adhered a piece of light blue/silver Sari ribbon. Adhered the stacked layer. Adhered the bow.

Added white rhinestone stars and silver Peel Off snowflakes.

Stamped the quote using Versafine Majestic Blue and clear embossed

Die cut the snowflakes (Elizabeth Craft Designs) from a thick white cardstock, inked with Distress Picket Fence and embossed with Emerald Creek Hot Stuff "Soft Fallen Snow" embossing powder. Adhered to floor to act as my stoppers.

Final touch added some faux stitching with a blue metallic gel pen.
