ID: MC Aug16 - Easel Macarons - ECD Happy Birthday - Possibility card
size: 7"w x 5"h (easel closed)

I love Macarons, and wanted to make some that were more realistic than some I've been seeing...

I'm using one of the  "A Way With Words" dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs ("Happy Birthday"), designed by Suzanne Cannon (also available HERE).

And using a quote stamp  from Quietfire Design

("I Dwell in Possibility");

Scored and folded my white card to create the easel. Cut another piece of the white cardstock for my front panel then layered light blue Ruche cardstock edge to edge.

Created the Macrons by cutting fat oval shapes (use a die or punch or electronic cutter, or cut by hand...) - you need 3 the same size ovals for each Macarons. Keep one of your negative pieces as well to use as a stencil.

Place the stencil approx 3/16" above the bottom edge (you can see this with the open space from the negative cut out), hold the negative piece and your oval firmly and sponge with your meringue color, laying down a heavier color around the edges going to nothing in the center. Remove stencil and sponge the upper edge, then sponge the lower edge where the traditional feet of Macarons is.

Sponge the 2nd oval in a similar way placing the stencil approx 1/4" above the bottom edge and sponge. Remove stencil and sponge the bottom edge white area.

With a matching colored pencil that is slightly darker than your sponged color add little nicks and dots to create the "feet" look.

 You can color the 3rd oval which is your filling or leave it white and use Viva Pearl Pens or Liquid Pearls to give that glossy filling look.

I used several colors of Distress pads ("Candied Apple"; "Picked Raspberry"; "Cracked Pistachio"; "Mermaid Lagoon"). Glued the elements together and used Viva Pearl Pen "Brown" for the chocolate ganache..., "Gold" for the caramel filling; "Ice White" for the vanilla filling and "Opal" with specks of Liquid Pearls "Rouge" for the strawberry filling.

Die cut the letters for "You're Sweet" using Tim's "Vintage Market Alphabet - Carnival" from white cardstock and sponged each letter with the various Macarons colors, then clear embossed them.

Did some calligraphy for the "Macarons" word, and electronically cut it plus a shadow layer. Inked with blue and embossed with Emerald Creek "Blue Sparkle" embossing powder. Layered on to the white shadow layer.

Adhered all the elements and the blue/gold Sari ribbon.

On the floor: Die cut the "Happy Birthday" from a dark blue cardstock and layered on to a shadow layer I cut with my electronic cutter. Adhered the "Birthday" portion to the floor, using the "Happy" as my easel stopper.

Made a lemon Macarons with chocolate ganache for the floor.

Stamped the quote on white cardstock using Versafine "Majestic Blue" and clear embossed. Die cut with Spellbinders oval die sponging around the edges with a dirty blue sponge.
