Size: 6"w x 7"h (card closed)
12"w x 7"h (card completely open)

Created: April 3, 2016
Modified:

I remember making one of these double diamond fold cards eons ago and as with most things from eons ago, I was in a mood to make another one...

One of the NEWEST "A Way With Words" dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs ("Happy Birthday" 2pce die), designed by Suzanne Cannon (also available HERE).

I'm also using a quote stamp on the inside and a couple of birthday sets from Quietfire Design

("The Woods Would Be very..."); ("Happy Birthday Plain and Simple" 7pce set); ("Let Them Eat Cupcakes" 4 pce set)

Scored and folded my white card (see template below).

Inked an embossing folder (Cuttlebug "Floral Screen") using Distress "Broken China" direct to folder, misting with water and embossing. Repeating the process to get a longer embossed design. Removed from folder and hit the high points with "Wild Honey", then with a touch of "Crushed Olive". Traced my diamond shape and transferred it to the back of my embossed piece. Adhered to left and right of card.

Stamped another piece of white cardstock with all the birthday sentiments using Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed. Sponged some of the broken China, the Wild honey and some "Mowed Lawn". Again created a template of the triangles, cut the stamped background and adhered in place.

Debossed the bird cages design inking the folder with the various pads, misting with water and embossing. Sponged some of the Broken China around the edges. Trimmed down and adhered to inside of card. Dried.

Stamped the quote using the black and clear embossed.

eCut the various bird and floral elements using Designs By Ryn "Hibiscus" and "Hummingbird 2" sets. Colored with watercolors, tooled the flowers then adhered to card. Applied Wink of Stella on the birds and Liquid Pearls "Buttercup" and "Onyx Pearl" dots to the flower center.

Created a belt around the card to keep it closed from Kraft Tex paper fabric. It's a strong leather type paper. Die cuts beautifully.

I used Memory Box "Chadwick Label" die, cutting only part of it using an off the edge cutting technique, moving the die and cutting the other end, then using a ruler and x-acto knife to cut between the die cuts. Adhered to the back only.

Die cut a couple more pieces and painted with acrylic dauber "Tumbled Glass". Adhered to belt. Added a piece of Velcro to the end.

Die cut the "Happy Birthday" twice from white cardstock. Top layer inked with "Peacock Feathers" and clear embossed. Adhered to 2nd white layer slightly off set, then on to belt.

To create this size card, cut a piece of cardstock 7"h x 12" w.

Score at 3", 4.5", 7.5" & 9".

Along the top edge, Pencil mark at the 1.5" & 10.5"

Along the vertical edge, pencil mark 3.5"

Score the diagonal lines. Cut away the cross hatched areas.

fold as indicated with valley fold or mountain fold. Decorate...

If you are using 8.5" x 11" cardstock, to get the same size card, cut 2 pieces of cardstock to 7"h x 6"w. splice the two pieces together by adhering a decorative piece (the bird cage design).
