ID: MC Sept/15 - Flap Card - WC Weave - Awesome Friend BD card
size: 5"w x 7"h (card closed)

Created: September 25, 2015

I'm using one of the newest dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs  (ECD)  "Friends" die also available through  Quietfire Design   HERE

And the Quietfire Design quote and sentiment stamps as well as an eCut word available on the Silhouette onLine store:

("I Am the Connections"); ("Happy Birthday Plain & Simple" 7pce set); eCut: ("Awesome")

I recently saw a painted weave design which was extremely bold and I loved it... and then I signed up for another online  watercolor class just to get me playing more with my watercolors... and this weave evolved...

Side folded my mango cardstock which was a 12 x 12" cardstock. So after folding it to create a 5"w card, had the 2" piece leftover and said OK lets make a flap...

Drew my weave design on to a piece of 90# Canson Biggie watercolor paper (smooth side), then went over the lines with a .3mm black fine line pen. Painted with my QoR watercolors in vibrant colors. When dry. shadowed two sides using an HB pencil and paper stump to blend. Added glue lines on a few of the stripes using a Quickie Glue pen and sprinkling with Stickles dry glitter "Diamond". On one of the stripes I added faux stitching. Trimmed my design down to fit the front leaving a 1/8" border all around. Inserted aqua square brads in the four corners, then adhered the watercolor to the card front.

Stamped the quote on to clear vellum using Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed.

Punched a couple small holes for my closure brads.

Prior spray with Perfect Pearls

QoR with Perfect Pearls background

On the top of the flap: I had a left over piece of Soft Finish cardstock, so I painted a background using the same colors as the weave, then sprayed with Perfect Pearls "Perfect Pearls" spray. Love the way it muted the colors for contrast (see below). I eCut the word "Awesome" and eCut a shadow layer from purple Bazzill monochromatic cardstock, layered the two together and then adhered to card flap.

Inside of the flap: die cut the word "Friend" from the Perfect Pearls WC background and also from the purple cardstock. Adhered the two together then adhered to flap.

Inside of card

Stamped the word "Happy" (MSE "Retro Caps" font set) using the black and clear embossed. Stamped the woven blocks (Stampendous Perfectly Clear  "Mesh Border") using Distress "Seedless Preserves" and clear embossed (cleaning off the embossing powder from the letters prior heat setting).

Stamped the row of buttons (Flourishes "Country Charm Borders" set) using  the black on the Perfect Pearls WC bkgr'd and clear embossed. Fussy cut around the buttons.

Stamped the word "Birthday" (Quietfire Design) using Distress "Barn Door" and clear embossed.

Trimmed down and adhered a piece of white stationary to the inside of the card.

Adhered a piece of fuchsia colored satin ribbon, a piece of beautiful white lace and then the button border.

Had some left over Perfect Pearls WC bkgr'd, so cut some strips to weave a design and hide my brad arms.
