ID: MC Oct/15 - Side Easel - ECD Happy Birthday - Sometimes Said Pooh card
size: 7"w x 5"h (easel closed)

Created: October 2, 2015
Modified:

Elizabeth Craft Designs  (ECD) has been licensed to make dies of Suzanne Cannon's (Quietfire Design ) calligraphy. Today's card uses  the "Happy Birthday" die. (or available on Quietfire HERE)

The  embossing folder "Sea Glass", the "Big Flowers Set 1" die set, the "Flourishes & Branches set", and the leaves from "Poinsettia" set are also by Elizabeth Craft Designs.

The rubber stamp quote is by Quietfire Design

 ("Sometimes Said Pooh");

I scored and folded my pink toned cardstock to create the side easel. Cut another piece of the pink cardstock for my front and covered it soft finish cardstock leaving a 1/4" edge all around.

I inked the negative side of the embossing folder with Distress "Old Paper", misted lightly with water and ran thru my machine. Dried, then hit the high points with various colors (blues, yellows, light greens and pink), clear embossed, trimmed down and adhered to front.

The "Happy Birthday" was die cut from a previous decorated background using "Color Burst" on Canson 90# CP watercolor paper (smooth side), and before the colors dried, sprinkled with table salt. After die cutting inked the letters with Versamark and clear embossed using UTEE. Cut another word from the soft finish cardstock and adhered the 2 layers together, slightly off set. Adhered to front using Best Ever glue.

The flourishes were die cut from the same decorative paper and clear embossed.

The flower was die cut several times from encyclopedia pages, layered together and a large pink brad stuck through the center. Petals scrunch by hand.

The leaves are from the poinsettia die, die cut from green decorated paper (as above but using various greens and yellow and a touch of blue). I scored veins in the leaves after die cutting, then adhered to bottom of flower.

On the floor, adhered a piece of white satin/gauze ribbon.

Stamped the quote using Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed. Die cut using Spellbinders "Classic Frame" die set and altering the size by cutting it in half and overlapping the edges, splicing them for a neat fit and adhering to a scrap piece of cardstock. I forgot that the die cut out the middle area, so cut a scrap piece to adhere to the back to hold everything together. Camouflaged the joins by adding gold Peel Offs and the leaves. Adhered to card floor wit 3D foam tape and added some piece of mat board to reinforce it. Added the pink rhinestone to the top and the button to the bottom leaves.
