MC June/15 - Origami BFLies - Dwell
In Possibility card & Tutorial
Created: June 18, 2015 Just got a bunch of the newest stamps from Quietfire Design and this one spoke to me. I had also been playing with making origami butterflies, so thought I'd use a few of them BIG GRIN This style came to my attention via The Paper Post and was found on "All Free Paper Crafts" ("I Dwell in Possibility" );
I side folded my white card and
adhered a white paper napkin using a glue stick. Added some scraps that were on my desk, the left band and the little squares. Hit the edge with a Distress pad "Festive berry". Created the butterflies using Dover Origami paper pack "Tiffany Patterns" (3"sq, 2"sq & a 1"sq) Stamped the quote using Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed. ORIGAMI BUTTERFLY TUTORIAL: Step 1 cut a square piece of light weight paper, copy paper or origami paper. Fold as shown horizontally (right sides together) and diagonally (wrong sides together). |
With right side facing up, pinch the diagonal line (mountain fold), while forcing the horizontal line (valley fold) down to create the folded triangle shape. |
Fold the upper layer of triangle up and against the vertical crease line. Repeat with opposite triangle. |
Turn butterfly over to underside and fold up the solid triangle. The point should just pass the top edge. Pinch that over the edge pressing down really hard. Also press down along the folded edge. Depending how far you have folded up, the bottom wing triangles may distort a bit. That's no problem, just fold the edge inward. |
Turn butterfly to right side and fold up wings together, pressing/burnishing along body area so wings stand up slightly. PS: I sometimes put a dab of glue on the head to keep it in place... |
