ID: MC Jan/15 - Mixed Media - Have a Heart - HB card
size: 5"w  x 7"h

Created: January 14, 2015
Modified:

And using another of the newest stamps from Quietfire Design on the inside, and an eCut file available on the Silhouette Online store on the front.

("Have a Heart that Never Hardens"); ("Butterfly, Dragonfly" 7 pce set); eCut ("Happy Birthday - Calligraphy");

I used a very heavy white cardstock (probably around 140#) to create my mixed media. Used Dreamweaver stencils and Dreamweaver regular paste "Round Doily" (upper left hand side) & "All that Jazz - Music Scale" (below the doily - words masked off). Dried the area before using another stencil.

Continued with Tim Holtz layering stencils "Doily" & "Burlap" and the same paste.

Applied some liquid type cheap gesso, then sprayed with Dylusions sprays (some blues, greens, pink & yellow) allowed to dry then hit here and there with more gesso. Applied Versamark in some areas and the metallic Pan Pastels in the deep gold and a bronze. Hit other areas with rub n buff in various colors and finally hit here and there with Distress acrylic daubers in bronze and brass.

Trimmed the piece to fit my card and sponged around edges with Distress "Walnut Stain" & "Vintage Photo". Used Tim's distressing tool around the edges, then adhered to card base - mid toned textured brown.

Adhered a piece of deep pink toned Sari ribbon, then a piece of ivory lace and then the beige/green rose ribbon.

Manipulated the words "Happy Birthday" to overlap each other slightly, then "welded" them together and eCut from white cardstock and while on the mat applied acrylic daubers (Spun Sugar, Copper, Salty Ocean, Mowed Lawn), removed from mat and applied Versamark and embossed with Pearlescent embossing powder. Also eCut a shadow layer and painted with "Walnut Stain" & hit here and there with "Black Soot". Adhered both layers together then on to card front.

Die cut the ivy sprigs (Creative Expressions Sue Wilson "Trailing Ivy") from white cardstock and again while on the mat, painted with acrylic daubers in various greens, dried, removed from mat and hit direct to paper with "Forest Moss".

Adhered the roses - made previously from some Gelli print paper using Die-Namics "Mini Royal Roses" die.

Created a silhouette image of the butterfly to cut with my electronic cutter from white cardstock. Inked the butterfly stamp using Distress markers, misting with water and stamping. When dry, applied Stickles "Crystal Ice" and smooshed it around on the wings. Adhered to card on the body only.

inside

On the inside, inked the quote using Distress mini pads "Picked Raspberry" all over, then hit here & there with "Salty Ocean" and "Mowed Lawn", stamped onto cream toned cardstock and clear embossed.

Inked the roses (Rubber Necker "Dual Rose") using the mini pads on the upper stamped flowers, all over with Spun Sugar, some Picked Raspberry, and Dusty Concord, a touch of Black Soot, and the leaves with Shabby Shutters and a touch of the Mowed Lawn, misted with water and stamped. Used Distress markers in similar colors for the 2nd stamping, creating a mask for the quote from tracing paper.

Used a brown Zig Writer to draw my linear border.
