I was in a mood to make one of those open type backgrounds... and decided to do a holly leaf background.

I'm using an Xmas quote from Quietfire Design

I placed my 8.5 x 11" white cardstock on my cutting mat and cut my open work design, then scored and trimmed my card to 5"w x 7"h. Used post it notes to mask of my design and sponged Distress "Peeled Paint" and then "Pine Needles", then embossed with Distress "Pine Needles".

Put some thin Sookwang tape around the opening and sprinkled with Queen's Gold embossing powder and carefully heat set.

eCut the candle (Dee's Distinctively), sponged "Worn Lipstick" on the candle base, ran through my embossing machine with Crafts Too "Holly" embossing folder. Sanded the high points. The wax drippings - I filled the area with Deco Arts Snow Writer and heat set. Sponged yellow and red on the flame and glued everything together, then onto the card.

Stamped the quote on a piece of vellum using Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed. Die cut with Spellbinders Oval die set. Edged the oval using Versamark and embossed with the gold embossing powder. Adhered to card and added the 2 gold brads.

Tied a four loop bow from Sari red/gold metallic ribbon and adhered with hot glue.

As a final touch applied Viva Pearl Pen red to the holly berries.
