MC Oct/14 - Rose Buds - Some People HB Card
Size: 5"w x 7"h (easel closed)

Created: October 11, 2014
Modified:

One of my quilling friends wanted me to make some rose buds... The lace flower was something I was playing with using some new lace ribbon I purchased.

I'm also using a quote stamp on the outside and a sentiment stamp on the inside from Quietfire Design ("Garden Delights" 8pce set) & ("Happy Family Days"5 pce set)

There's a tutorial at the bottom of this post on how I made the rose buds.

I side folded my white card. Adhered a piece of paper backed white silk (purchased eons ago...) leaving a scant 1/16" border all around.

Adhered a piece  of pink silk/moiré

Stamped the quote with Versafine Black Onyx, clear embossed and die cut with Spellbinder's oval die set. Sponged some pink around the edges. Adhered to card.

Die cut the leaf sprigs from green cardstock and embossed with Cuttlebug "Musical Flourishes". Adhered the leaves and some rhinestone flourishes. Added the lace flower with a white pearl brad center. adhered the rose buds.

On the inside, stamped the "Happy Birthday" with the black, clear embossed and created a circle mask from tracing paper.

Inked up my stamp (Stampendous "Vase Bouquet") using Distress markers, misting with water and stamping, leaving the stamp for a good minute to activate the colors. Then used a paint brush and some water to move the color around a bit.

the sampler shows my use of 3 different punches to achieve a similar effect. Experiment with different punches...

For the rose buds, I punched out approx 6 shapes for each bud. applied Distress Stain "Spun Sugar" on both sides, then a touch of "Worn Lipstick" on one side only, misted with water. While relatively still wet, I scored some vein lines using my new tools from Ten Second Studios (a small balled stylus will word as well). Allowed to semi dry. Hit the edges with a Distress pad - either the Lipstick or Picked Raspberry.

Cut a piece of green wire thread (Prima) and using my glue gun, started adhering the petals tightly at first then a little looser, rolling the bottom area between my fingers while the glue was still pliable to create the right shape.

Die cut the calyx using Memory Box "Honeysuckle" border from white cardstock. Sponged with Distress green on both sides, swiped my Crushed Olive mini pad over the calyx, then cut it apart from the rest of the die cut. Misted with water, and using a large balled stylus and a foam mat, shaped it. Adhered to bottom of bud.
