ID: MC Sept/13 - Flip Card - Roses & Friendship card
size: 7"w x 5"h

Created: September 2, 2013

I made the base for this flip card about a week and a half ago... and it's been sitting on my table just staring at me. I finally decided what I wanted to do with it. Not the type of card I'll repeat any time soon...

I'm also using a  sentiment, quote and newest image stamp from Quietfire Design

So after playing around with a bunch of configurations, finally came up with one that was the size I wanted... made from a 9"w x 5"h cardstock. I used Spellbinders Grand Ovals with an off the edge technique to cut both sides of the oval shape while still keeping the flip piece in tact...

I used 3 different Designer Papers (Provo Craft Garden pack. Love this set, but since it's not available anymore, I'm always hesitant to use it. Sigh!!

The front and back use the same paper - lace design with flowers. I used the lavender shade plainer paper for the front oval and the corresponding pink toned plainer paper for the back of the oval.

I also reinforced the folds with Book Binding tape, and then covered the edges with a pink gauze ribbon which I adhered to wide Sookwang tape mitering the corners.

I used two sizes of the Spellbinders "Floral Ovals" die set for the front and die cut from white cardstock, sponging with Distress "Picked Raspberry". Stamped the sentiment ("Friendship" Quote Marks) with Versafine Black Onyx. Stamped the rose ("Floral Thank You" set) on a separate piece of watercolor paper and colored with Distress Markers, blending with Iridescent medium. Die cut it to a matching oval size and adhered to floral oval die cut. Adhered both floral ovals to front, adding the paper bow.

Love that bow. Made from small oval punches, run through with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder, sponged with Distress "Mustard Seed" and a touch of "Spiced Marmalade", then the ovals are cut in half and turned around, and layered onto each other. Two thin rectangles cut with picot edge and attached to ovals. A yellow toned half pearl added.

The back floral oval was custom cut using the same die, and off the edge technique, then just cutting around the die in the middle and sponging some detail.

Stamped the quote (A Friend is someone) with the black. Then used one of the details - flourish leafy end (Home - Congratulations set) using a piece of tracing paper to align my join. I can't believe how well it joined BIG GRIN.

I added two more of those bows (I made 3 so figured to use them all...)

As a final touch added some faux stitching to the front oval with my mix of Copic white/water and a pointed pen. I used a bit more detail in the sewing this time, adding a dot between the lines.
