ID: MC Sept/13 - Candles - It Is Christmas card
size: 7"h x 5"w

Created: September 5, 2013

A friend showed me a card she made with this type of fold and I loved it... Her's had a more traditional square-ish piece on front instead of the complex candle shape...

And I'm using my newest gadget... Drumroll please... a Silhouette Cameo. I also got super support from Sure Cuts A Lot and upgraded my software at no charge. I had the old version for my Cricut...

I'm also using a  couple Xmas stamps from Quietfire Design

I cut out the outline for my candles, inked it with Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed a few times. Adhered it to watercolor paper (cheapie brand). Colored it with Derwent Inktense watercolor pencils and a waterbrush filled with a mix of Iridescent medium and water. Gives it a nice gentle shimmer. When dry, I flicked the petals with a Quickie Glue pen and sprinkled Glitter Ritz micro fine glitter "Warm Highlights". Then I cut around my design. PS I tried making a matching solid image on my cutter, but it wouldn't give me the match I wanted, there was always something off... So hand cutting worked best this time. Tied a couple green/gold edge mini bows and adhered them to the leaves using my heat gun to melt the embossing and then pressing my bow into the hot area.

I scored my card the usual way for the first score line. Then I scored the front piece in half and folded it back, so the inside basically became the outside.

Stamped the sentiment words as one block of text the way the stamp came to me... (mine is all cut up, but I don't cut away where I make my cuts so I can match the whole thing up perfectly...). I used Versafine Toffee, stamping several times to fill the front piece and embossed with Queen's Gold. Sponged Distress Evergreen Bough all over and then wiped the text with a paper towel.

Made a paper cut out of the candles to use as a stencil on the inside. Positioned my candles where I wanted them to land. held it in place while I put the stencil down, matching my candles, held that in place and removed my candles, taping down my stencil so it wouldn't accidently move...

Stamped the quote with the black and clear embossed. Lightly sponged Distress yellow, red & green through the stencil to give a hint of the shape. Removed the stencil and sponged the edges of the card with the green and touched it with some Pumice.

Adhered the candles to the front matching my inside design. Added some red rhinestones for flower centers.

As a final touch added the gold ribbon as a border
