ID: MC Nov/13 - Die Cut Waste - Xmas Cards

Created: November 15, 2013
Modified:

at our last quilling session one of my friends was die cutting stuff for an upcoming class she was doing. When she was done cutting, she started to throw the waste at left in the garbage... I asked for it and she handed it to me. BIG GRIN. Had no idea what I was going to do with it, but I just couldn't see it going in the garbage.

I'm using  various Xmas Quote stamps from Quietfire Design

On this first card I side folded the card to 4.25"w x 5.5"h, then lay down a piece of Sookwang tape and just placed the waste on top of it. Sprinkled with Glitter Ritz micro fine glitter in "Star Dust" and burnished. There is a join line under the horizontal quote piece...

I dry embossed the pine branch detail on the right side using the waste and a tan rubber mat through my machine.

Stamped the "Sing as if..." quote (Woods would be very silent... set) on white cardstock using Versafine Black Onyx and clear embossed. Cut out and rounded the corners and sponged using a dirty Distress red sponge.

Stamped part of an Xmas stamp (Deck the Halls... set) with the black.

Size: 4.25"w x 5.5"h

On this 2nd card I side folded the card to 4.25"w x 5.5"h.

Made a template to cut between all the die cuts, inked them up with a Versamark pad and embossed with Old Island Red Tinsel embossing powder (my newest acquisition).

Cut a piece of white cardstock to leave an 1/8" border all around, applied Sookwant and adhered the embossed die cuts, then sprinkled with Distress "Star Dust glitter. adhered this to the card front.

Punched out a punch of pine branches using a McGill punch, colored them with Distress greens and embossed with 3 embossing powders (Distress "Walnut Stain" & "Shabby Shutters", Xing "Metallic Green").

Stamped the quote on a piece of pink toned vellum with the black, clear embossed and die cut with Spellbinders Circle die set. Used the same set to cut a ring from cardstock. Adhered the vellum piece to the ring with Glossy Accents, then started adhering the pine sprigs to the ring. Adhered the ring to the card with 3D tape.

Tied the peg bow and attached to ring with Tim's tiny attacher. Added the narrow red ribbon hanger.

On this 3rd card I side folded the card to 5.5"w x 4.25"h.

Colored the waste using a brayer and Acrylic Titanium White paint. Dried, then applied Versamark and embossed with Pearlescent embossing powder. Lay Sookwang over the whole front and adhered the waste strips, sprinkled Glitter Ritz micro fine glitter "Dark Gold". Burnished.

Stamped the quote with the black and embossed with Queen's Gold embossing powder. Die cut with Spellbinders "Floral Ovals", sponged the edges with a dirty pink sponge and then a dirty brown sponge. Attached the oval using rhinestone amber brads at the top and bottom and adding small rhinestones on either side.

Size: 5.5"w x 4.25"h

On this 4th card I side folded the card to 5.5"w x 4.25"h.

Applied Versamark directly on to the red cardstock and embossed with white embossing powder.

Die cut a bunch of the pine sprigs and adhered them to a scrap piece of cardstock (double layered the sprigs) and used it to emboss the texture on the right side. Sponged with the dirty green and brown sponges.

Lay Sookwang on the underside of the white embossed piece and adhered to card front. Sprinkled with Glitter Ritz micro fine glitter "Chartreuse". Burnished.

Double stamped part of the quote for the front, with the black and clear embossing, then shadow stamping it with Distress "Crushed Olive". Die cut with Spellbinders A2 card die set, sponging with the green and brown around the edges. Used the same die to cut out the under layer, sponging it with the Olive.

Used the same double stamping technique for the rest of the quote on the inside.
